Technician (Full, Part Time & Occasional)
Disasters happen. Pipes break and houses flood. Fires break out and smoke damage occurs. There will always be a need for people to clean up these messes and make things right again for people in their homes and businesses. If you have energy, want a never boring different experience every day, already know or want to learn the interesting science of drying and cleaning, can creatively problem solve and can treat the people we are serving with courtesy and compassion, we are looking for you!
No experience or particular education level required but can be an asset. We are most concerned with finding the right people. This is work paid by the hour with extra pay for emergency after hours and weekend efforts.
Job Description:
A Restoration Technician responds to emergency damage in homes and commercial facilities. After assessing the situation and appropriately communicating with the property owner the technician is responsible for water extraction, furniture/contents movement, using technical meters, demolition and removal of damaged materials, deploying drying equipment and following up multiple days with ongoing monitoring until a site is dry. In other situations the job may entail complete fire/smoke clean up, mold remediation or biohazard/trauma scene cleanup. Paperwork and computer data entry must be completed for each job. There will also be equipment cleaning/decontamination and maintenance at the warehouse. Must have good customer relationship skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours as emergencies happen 24/7. Training for required certifications will be provided.
Qualifications:
- This is a physically demanding job at times. Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. for a distance of at least 50 feet. Must be able to bend, lift, walk, move, and carry for long periods of time. Must have the ability to work in a variety of situations. Hot and cold, day and night. Long shifts are possible.
- A flexible schedule. We are an emergency services firm - jobs can come in anytime 24/7/365. Time commitments when you are “unavailable” must be discussed ahead of time. After hours and overtime are compensated. Must live within reasonable driving time of Richardson (20-30 minutes maximum).
- Must have the ability to:
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Read and carry out detailed instructions from technical manuals.
- Prepare detailed technical records or reports.
- Perform basic arithmetic and calculations.
- Write legibly and clearly.
- Type and use basic computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Browser)
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both on the phone and in person.
- Critical thinking and judgment ability. Problem solving ability is critical to job success. Every single job is different in one way or another. The ability to think on your feet and creatively find solutions is very important.
- Must have a professional appearance: No visible tattoos or piercings; Well-groomed hair and nails; Must wear PuroClean approved uniform at all times.
- Must have a clean driving record and good/safe driving ability.
- Basic mechanical capabilities and a fundamental knowledge of simple tools.
- Leadership and organizational skills are plusses that can open the door to advancement in our company.
